Yesterday we went to Seabury school to shadow ninth graders for the whole morning until lunch. We had to dress nicely to make a good impression. When we got there we went into the Cooper house. It was a relief when I walked in because it was nice and warm. We all sat on the couches as we watched students walk in one by one. Then we go paired up with our student leaders and headed to assembly. I was blown away when we walked in the 'A'ali'ikuhonua Creative Arts Center for assembly because it was like a large movie theater. My favorite part of assembly as when four talented students performed two numbers which were so beautiful. When assembly was over, we walked with our student leaders to our first classes. My first class was English. I was lucky to be in there with Krizhna, Brandon, and Max and we all sat together. The teacher was really nice and gave us sheets of paper and markers so we cold color because she did't want us to get bored. The next class was history. I sat next to my leader and Summer. I thought this class was boring but I liked how the students were graded by participation. After that class it was time for a break so we went back to the Cooper house and ate snack. It was time for our last class of the day which was spanish for me. I was in that class with Krizhna and we sat next to each other so we would't feel alone. That class was amazing because they spoke spanish the whole time which was really impressive. The teacher was also really cool. Finally it was time for lunch. They have an all you can eat buffet and a soda fountain and I was so overwhelmed in astonishment. I wish I could go to that school because they have so many amazing features at that school. But it is really expensive and the tuition is around 17 thousand dollars. Thats almost 100 thousand for four years.
I was so excited when I found out that Bill Brown, producer of The Hiding Place, was coming to talk about film making of the movie and about Corrie ten Boom. He came with his "daughter in love" (daughter in law), Alicia. Bill calls her "daughter in love" because she shows him and his wife so much love and caring. I loved how he showed us pictures of the film making and the actors. I was really moved by his stories about the love of God and humankind. It made me realize that love is the most important thing on earth besides food and water. Watching The Hiding Place made me more faithful to God because if God helped the Jews during the tough times of World War 2, then he can help me through tough times in my life. Seeing the suffering of the people in the concentration camps makes me realize that we don't live in a fantasy when everyday is about sunshine and rainbows. I would love to hear Bill talk to us again and maybe one day we should watch the movie with him.
