Learning Journey Review
The class and the rest of the middle school had a wonderful opportunity to visit the Hui O Wa'a Kaulua voyaging society and learning about their part in the launch of Mo'okiha O Pi'ilani (the lizard of Maui), a 62 ft. double-hulled canoe planed to be launched on December 21, 2013 (winter solstice). We learned the art of way finding and the history of Hau bringing the traditions back to our land. The sense of place and where we come from were deeply touched and made firm of that this is our land and to be able to go somewhere we must understand were we come from. We must take care of our canoe and then the canoe will take care of us. For more infomation click of the link below and watch the video.
