This Friday the 7th and 8th grade class went up to Honokawai Valley to plant native species and learn about their uses. First Puanani started with a puli then broke off into groups to start weeding the bed we would plant in. I used a sickle to cut the roots of the grass then Carter came with the rake and took all the weeds away. After all the weeding was done and the area was clear we had lunch and took a break. When lunch was over we re hydrated and got our tools to plant. Carter and I were using digging sticks that are used to loosen up the hard soil, then the dirt is dug out with the shovel. we planted a bush that can be crushed up and put in tide pools to make the fish drowsy and slow.
We all learned a lot and had a lot of fun.
