Though today was our last day of our five week sailing program, there may be hope! It is possible that we may have another chance to sail with the Lahaina Yacht Club. If we do, the only thing that could happen is we get better from here. Some of the novice sailors and the experienced sailors could race together closely. I wold like to thank all the crew and staff that provided help and food for us. I hope to be able to go the the summer camp that they provide again next summer.
Sailing at the Lahaina Yacht Club is a extremely fun activity. I have re-learned skills that I know I will need in life. The Bowline is a very difficult knot to learn but is extremely useful. One of the most important skills is teamwork and being a good crew member. When sailing with another person, communication is key. If I don't tell Brandon to pull in the mainsheet when we are tacking into the wind, we will be stuck and upset with each other. If you aren't sailing with somebody you know very well, then it gives you time to become better friends.
