Last Friday on the 18th of October the Sacred Hearts Class of 2014 and 2015 went on a cultivating learning journey. We went to Honokowai Valley, Honokowai Valley is a sacred place home to the hearts of Hawaiians. I was an honor to be able to capture the amazing view of the valley. As we gathered, Auntie Puanani chanted, the power in her chant was breath taking, it was like I could feel the mana or power of all our ancestors. As the day continued, we learned one of the greatest lessons, how to Malama Honua. Learning about how the ancestors did things really brought me back into the ancient times, how to better the Earth and become more sustainable. Honokowai Valley has and will be a great learning curve for me in the years to come and I will continue to remember the importance of Malama Honua.
