Thursday September 17 our class went sailing for the fourth time. This class was especially fun. We got to the Lahaina Yacht Club around 8:30 am. When we got there all the sails were already set up so we were ready to sail. The morning sailing was uneventful with a few races in very little wind. I got second place in the first race and first place in the second race. So it was a kind of fun. Then all of us kids and instructors went in for lunch where we were served something that everybody thought was interesting but nobody knew what it was. We did get a very tasty peanut butter brownie. Once we finished lunch the wind picked up tremendously and it started to get fun. The wind was at a perfect angle so we could sail straight out to where the waves were breaking on the reef so some of us were riding the waves. After that an instructor named Ian took us out past the reef into the deep water and it made the water look a dark blue. Then we went in brought all the boats did all of the end of the day procedures and went back to school.
On Friday September 27 my class and I went to O'o Farms. I especially liked the process of growing and harvesting the coffee. So first you put the red coffee beans into a machine that takes the fruit from the outside and takes it off then the beans go into another machine that takes the outside shell off of the bean that you will see in the store then they put the beens in some dirt to give them that brown colour because before that they are quite pale. Then they get shipped off to the store.
Thursday September 26 was the best day I have had at the beach in a long time. That day we went sailing at the Lahaina Yacht Club and it was amazing. During the First couple hours of sailing it was as boring as can be but right after Lunch the wind and the waves really picked up and the day turned from boring to exciting and fun. The wind was so great all the boats started to tip over and when we turned we all capsized. several times when I capsized my sail got tangled and i had to have somebody come over and help. During the time of barely any wind most of us did find fun in slowly sailing out agents the waves and catching the waves and riding them back in.
On Wednesday September 18 my class and I went sailing at the Lahaina Yacht Club. We will be going every thursday for the next three weeks and in four weeks we will go on Wednesday, feel free to come and watch. We learned about tying different knots such as the square, knot the figure eight knot, and the bowline knot. We also learned how to rig a Bic sailboat. Sailing was an amazing experience and I can't wait to do it again.
On Tuesday September 10, my class and I went to a recording studio that George Benson used to own, to record music with Steve Grimes on a song that will be on his new album. This is the website of the recording studio we went to http://www.mauirecording.com and this is Steve's website http://grimesguitars.com/grimestunes/ .
